Out the door by 7 a.m. on a Saturday has been the routine of my 17-year old for the past three months. Not your typical schedule for a teenager on their day off. Brandon has been participating this year on the school’s speech team in the extemporaneous category (meaning he gets his topic at the tournament and has 1/2 hour to prepare his speech). The kids are all dressed professionally (for the men a suit and tie and for the women a dark colored skirt). The competition has been tough and this is his first year participating, but last Saturday he brought home his first ribbon–a fifth place.

His family and his girlfriend are so proud.

A few days ago he got his hair cut. It has been getting progressively shorter. Last summer it was like this:
